Critical Illness

If you were diagnosed with a critical illness, it can have devastating financial consequences.

A lump sum of money from a critical illness insurance policy offers you and your family protection and security in such difficult times, so that you don’t need to worry about finances when focusing on your recovery.

An unexpected critical illness can have an overwhelming impact on individuals of any age, quickly turning lives upside down. Planning for the future is never an easy task, but it can be even more crucial when unexpected circumstances arise.  Having a back-up plan in place to protect you and your family financially if illness strikes can help ease worries during tough times.

When it comes to important matters such as critical illnesses, you should always seek advice from a qualified adviser.  Going directly to providers or using comparison websites may seem like the most affordable way forward, but you run the risk of exposing yourself to inadequate coverage and missing out on potential benefits.

How much cover will I need?

We will conduct a full review of your current circumstances and make a tailored recommendation based on your concerns.   In most cases, people want peace of mind knowing their mortgage can be fully cleared with the funds received however, in other cases having 1- or 2-years’ salary is sufficient for them to take time off work to recover and potentially make some home adaptations if necessary.

When should I get critical illness cover?

Statistically, recent studies show that one in two of us will be diagnosed with a critical illness at some point in our lives. There is not age limit on when a critical illness diagnosis will occur however, the younger you are at application stage will be a factor in keeping the monthly premium low.

Can I make changes to my policy?

We understand that circumstances are changing all the time and a policy that suited your needs 2, 3, or 5 years ago, may not be the same today.   We will always conduct a thorough review of any existing policies to be sure that if we make any changes, you will not be loosing out on previous benefits covered.

On average it’s expected that a life changing event occurs at least once a year.  Whether this be marriage, house move, children, separation or divorce or career change etc, any of these circumstances could mean changes need to be made to your current policy.

Childrens Critical Illness

With children’s critical illness coverage, you can be prepared for the worst and have peace of mind knowing that their medical costs may be covered if a serious health issue arises. Depending on your provider, this extra layer of protection could already come included in your policy with no additional steps necessary!

If this is something you would like to have included on your policy, then be sure to make our advisers aware.

Additional Critical Illness Cover

You can upgrade your standard critical illness policy to a more enhanced critical illness policy for you and your children’s cover.  The enhanced policy will include additional critical illness conditions and other benefits not found on the standard policy.   When we review your circumstances and make a recommendation, we will compare the standard and enhanced ranges to be sure you have the right policy for you.

A full medical application will need to be completed, and these questions will cover your health and lifestyle.  The premium is then determined based on how the questions are answered, the amount of cover we are applying for and how long you want to policy to run for.
